Skin Care Tips For Swimmers
Here’s how dermatologists recommend caring for your skin before and after a swim.
Skin Care Tips For Swimmers Before Swimming:
- Take shower before taking a dip once skin cells are properly hydrated, they will absorb less chlorinated water .
- Apply water-proof sunscreen 15 minutes prior to taking a dip with at least spf 80/90.
- Stay hydrated- Always carry a water bottle along pool side & keep sipping every 15-20 minutes while swimming.
- Apply coconut oil over hair and wear cap before entering pool.
Skin Care Tips For Swimmers After Swimming:
- Shower right away with warm water & soap to minimize chronic irritation and same goes for people who swim in ocean /lakes due to salt water, algae & bacteria.
- Finish with last rinse of cold water to close open pores .
- Wash your bathing suit with soap to remove possible contaminants from pool /sea water.
- Don’t wear until it gets completely dry.
- Apply thick cream based moisturizer after shower to avoid dryness of skin.
- Hydrate yourself –drinking more water helps to flush out pool toxins & keep you hydrated.
